Self portraits
Self-portraiture has been at the core of my work throughout my career as an artist. Through drawing, painting and especially photography, I have used the genre of the self-portrait as a way of investigating my existence.
I created this self-portrait in 2004. Since then, much has come to the forefront within mainstream discussion surrounding gender identity and gender non-conforming expression. The existence of people and bodies who transcend the gender binary and heteronormative model is not something new.
